Meet your maker guides
FOLDORI products are designed for self-assembly. The four Companions are here to guide you through every step: from choosing your set to the final fold. Each brings a different expertise; together they ensure your assembly is soothing, rewarding, and entirely yours.
Otis, your main support
Otis is the voice you hear first. He greets you on the homepage, answers your questions in chat, and checks in after your order ships. His register is warm and efficient; he uses plain everyday verbs and skips jargon. Otis owns the FAQ, post-purchase emails, and the support line. When something goes wrong or you need reassurance, Otis is there.

Mira, materials and engineering
Mira explains the paper. She tells you why we chose Fedrigoni Old Mill 250gsm, what long fibers do at the cut edge, and how the Paper Belt mechanism holds layers in tension without glue. Her annotations appear on product pages and in the Design Handbook. Mira's voice is specific; she names grammage, score angles, and fiber length because those details matter.
Mira is a fictional FOLDORI companion designed to explain the engineering behind every set.
Maïa, color and finish
Maïa curates the palette. She names colors by their material origin: persimmon kakishibu, ai-zome indigo, Hokusai blue. She writes the collection introductions and the color spreads in the Handbook. Maïa's eye is what gives Sunrise Dreams its warm sunset tones and the extensions their distinct moods. Her annotations are brief and sensory.
Maïa is a fictional FOLDORI companion designed to guide you through FOLDORI's color and material choices.
Niko, assembly and learning
Niko walks you through the fold. He writes the step-by-step instructions in the Handbook and the "About this technique" sidebars that explain why a score line locks at 38°. His voice is procedural and patient; he uses verbs like place, rest, score, release. Niko also writes the technique-history blog posts that connect FOLDORI's methods to centuries of paper craft.
Niko is a fictional FOLDORI companion designed to guide you through assembly and share the craft's history.
Why fictional companions
The Companions live outside the story world. They are not characters in the Sunrise Dreams tale; they are your guides as you build it. This separation keeps the narrative clear: inside the diorama, you meet Moonsoon, Noelani, and Speeon. Outside, you work with Otis, Mira, Maïa, and Niko. One cast tells the story; the other helps you assemble it.
