Noelani

The youngest heroine of our story. As a spirited young human girl who left home at the age of 8, Noelani brings a glowing appetite to Moonsoon’s adventure ensuring he and all their future bandmates will share a seat at the table. Feisty and talented she's the proud child of a tempest and its thunder: the fresh progeny of Yakhri and Rainbow. Noelani's ambition is the key to this journey beyond the Linderast mountains.

As an offspring of the groups of men who initially walked across the Balian steppes following the curvatures of the river San and slowly expanded deep into the prairies, Noelani's spirit is humble but electric. Her ancestors domesticated the roaming free wolves of the wooden hills past Linderast. She knows the story of her great grandparents Yakhri and Rainbow, who one day adventured dangerously beyond their known land in the search for their daredevil companion, Finn. This legacy encounter between Finn and Han, the banned horse from the Bayar herd, stuck to her mind for as long as she could remember.

Noelani's human tribe is named The Feathers. Part of the third successful wave of travellers, they went on exploring the south-west coast of San until it got populated by dozens of other tribes from the second and third waves due to its abundant resources with proximity to clean water. For the same reason that those tribes made The Feathers flee the coast and gave them their name - The Feathers flew through the crowd as if they were never there.

This year, Noelani turned ten: endlessly curious about the world beyond San and the prairies, she had always hoped to one day ride east along with her spiritual companion Speeon through the forbidden woods, post-Balian territory. An adventure that would definitely resonate with her ancestors' audacity when she meets with Moonsoon along the darker colors of San, initiating the downfall of a millenia old eden, and uncovering the mysteries of the river that will spin out new worlds out of the old.

Galaad and Mary, Noelani's parents, are respectively a deerhunter and a wood carver. Although they have been practising their craft for two decades by now, they do it for the community's sake - hunting and carving are fun but neither him nor her would take them for granted. Their characters are highly symbiotic, forming a unified spirit tackling new challenges one after the other. One day, they even invented a pioneering method to bring gallons of water back from the flanks of San to the colony. Galaad being a deerhunter, it was a shock to see Noelani’s best companion Speeon appearing before his eyes both in flesh and in the shape of a deer spirit. As a man of great reverence he was always keen on trying, without ever succeeding to accept Speeon. Not of his own admission - but because of the peer pressure he consistently felt in the tribe. This led Noelani to act on intuition, in good faith of her heart taking the harshest decision of her life at only eight years old, to detach from her fatherly figure and be forced to say goodbye to her loving mother. She fled one morning out of the family tent and swiftly disappeared throughout the nearby wooden forest.
